Free online PDF editor
Open a PDF, add text, edit existing text, fill checkboxes, add signatures, and export a modified PDF in the browser.
How to edit a PDF in your browser
Start by opening a local PDF or trying the sample document. The original file stays unchanged while Golial prepares a working copy in the browser. Choose Select to adjust an item you already placed, Edit existing text for small visible corrections, Text for new entries, Checkbox for marks, or Signature for a simple typed signature.
After placing an item, select it and use the inspector to adjust wording, position, font size, and color. Zoom in when aligning text with small form lines or checkboxes. When the page looks right, export the PDF, open the downloaded file, and review every edited page before sharing it.
Best uses for the PDF editor
Golial PDF Editor is designed for everyday visible edits: typing a name, adding a date, filling a blank line, checking a box, adding a short note, or placing a simple signature. It is useful when the document is already mostly correct and you need to complete or clarify it before sending.
This is different from rebuilding a PDF from its original source file. PDFs can contain embedded fonts, scanned images, layers, form fields, annotations, hidden metadata, and permissions. A lightweight web editor is best for visible human-reviewed changes, not for deep publishing work, certified signatures, permanent redaction, or legal document production.
Common use cases
Typical use cases include employment forms, school forms, insurance paperwork, small corrections on a quote, date updates, initials, checklist marks, and simple acknowledgement signatures. For example, if a form asks for a printed name, date, and acceptance checkbox, you can place a text field on the name line, another text field on the date line, and a checkbox mark inside the square.
For scanned PDFs, the visible page may be an image. In that case, edits are usually placed on top of the image instead of changing underlying text. That can still be appropriate for forms and notes, but it means alignment and visual review matter more.
What to review before sending
Open the exported PDF and check the pages that changed. Confirm that text is readable, positioned on the correct line, and not covering important content. Check that checkboxes and signatures appear in the expected place. If the file will be printed, preview or print a test page because some mistakes only become obvious on paper.
Keep the original PDF until the recipient accepts the edited copy. If a bank, government office, insurer, school, employer, or court requires a specific format, verify that a browser-edited copy is acceptable. Some organizations require official digital signatures or unmodified forms.
PDF editor FAQ
Do files upload to Golial? The editor is built to process PDFs in the browser whenever possible, but highly sensitive documents should still be handled only on devices and services you trust.
Can I erase text? Lightweight editing can cover or replace visible text, but that is not secure redaction. Do not use it to hide confidential information that must be permanently removed.
Why does a font look slightly different? PDFs often embed custom fonts. Browser tools may use available fonts for new visible edits, so review the exported copy for appearance and alignment.
Can I use this for official signatures? A typed visible signature is not the same as a certified digital signature. Check what the recipient accepts.
